I can't believe it took that long to finish! They had to dedicate each face one at a time. I feel bad for whoever made the first attempt at Jefferson, he had to have his work blown up :^( I don't think I realized how big the faces really are. I mean, I've seen plenty of pictures of a guy on a rope next to Washington's nose, but I have never seen a helicopter view before, like in the first video. That really put the monument into perspective.
It would be pretty sad to have your work blown up. :( We drove by Mt. Rushmore almost 20 years ago, but we weren't able to get close enough to judge it's size. It was the middle of winter, and I think the area was closed. I'd like to go back someday and get a better look. :)
